Summer 2025
President's Report
Summer is off to a wonderful start. The reservation is in great shape and ready for all the activities it has to offer. Thanks to our new beach and lifeguard advisor, Ryan Lang, and director Roey Ficaro, we have a full staff of lifeguards to protect the beach swimming area daily from 10 am-6 pm. The new basketball backboard is in the process of being installed, and we will follow up with new half-court lines shortly thereafter.
In our June board meeting, we discussed at length whether or not to recommend a vote on raising member dues. In addition to the typical inflation increases, our insurance expenses have skyrocketed. Many of you have also been hit with very large homeowner rate increases, so I’m sure you can relate. Our insurance costs have increased by 300% from 2022, and they represent our single largest expense in our budget.
We reviewed a sample 2026 budget during the meeting, which showed we would have just enough income to cover the usual reservation maintenance without any of the improvement projects that we occasionally do. The board decided not to increase member dues this year. This means that next year the board will likely propose a more substantial increase in dues.
Please be sure to take advantage of all the various activities at the reservation: going for a paddle or kayak in Hog Creek, spending a day at the lifeguarded beach, enjoying a taco lunch or dinner in the shade of the pavilion, playing a game of bocce ball, watching your kids or grandkids play in the playground, joining Roey’s yoga classes, bringing your kids to the annual smore’s or fishing contest, or watching the beautiful sunsets.
